Entity SEO: How to Build a Brand Entity AI Trusts
An 'entity' is how engines recognise you as a real, distinct thing. You build one with consistent schema, a Wikidata presence, and aligned sameAs profiles — so AI can confidently name you.
The short answer
Before an AI can recommend you, it has to be sure who you are.
Before an AI can recommend you, it has to be sure who you are. That's what an 'entity' is — a recognised, disambiguated thing the engine can attach facts to. Entity SEO is the work of making your brand unambiguous, and it's the single highest-leverage move for AI visibility.
It starts with schema: Organization (and Person for founders) with the same name, logo, URL and contact everywhere, plus a sameAs array linking every official profile — LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Wikidata, social. Those links tell engines 'all these are the same entity', and they fuse the mentions into one confident identity.
Wikidata is the quiet powerhouse: a structured, machine-readable record the major models lean on. A correct, well-referenced Wikidata item — and, where merited, a Wikipedia article — materially raises the odds AI describes you accurately instead of guessing or staying silent.
Consistency is the whole game: one name, one description, one set of facts, repeated everywhere. Conflicting details make the model hedge. Get the entity right and everything downstream — citations, Overviews, recommendations — gets easier, because the engine finally trusts it knows who you are.
